Want guests to easily access personalized content? You can add a check-in link to your navigation menu! This lets guests identify themselves and see content specific to them.
What the check-in menu button does
Adds a check-in link to your navigation menu.
Lets guests identify themselves. They enter their name or email.
Shows personalized content. Guests see info specific to them (like which events they're invited to).
Displays a greeting. Shows guest names after they check in.
Multiple customizable texts. Control what guests see at each step.
Requirements
This feature requires:
A paid plan with RSVP features. Standard or Pro plan.
If you're on the Basic plan, you'll see a message to upgrade instead of the toggle.

- Go to Site in your main navigation
- Click on the settings icon to open Site settings
- Click the Menu tab at the top
- Scroll down to find Display check-in link in menu
- Turn the toggle on
- Four text fields appear below for customization
- Optionally customize the text (all have defaults)
- Click Save changes at the bottom
A check-in link now appears in your navigation menu!
Customizable text fields
After enabling the toggle, you can customize:
Check in text:
- Default: "Check in"
- What guests see before checking in
- Examples: "Guest Login", "Sign In", "Check In Here"
Checked in greeting:
- Default: "Hello,"

- Examples: "Welcome,", "Hi,", "Hey there,"

Back to site text:
- Default: "Go back to site"
- Link to return to the main site from check-in page
- Examples: "Return to site", "Back", "Go back"
How check-in works for guests
- Guest clicks check-in link in the menu
- Enters their information (name, email, etc.)
- System finds them in your guest list
- Shows greeting with their name like "Hello, Emily"
- Site personalizes content for them
- "Not you?" link lets them log out if needed
When guests are checked in
After checking in, the menu changes for that guest:
Instead of "Check in": Shows their greeting ("Hello, Emily")
Log out option: "Not you?" link appears
Personalized experience: They see content specific to them
This happens automatically once they check in!
Check-in vs. authentication
Guest authentication (in Site settings → General tab):
- Controls if the ENTIRE site requires check-in
- Guests must check in to see any content
Check-in menu button (this feature):
- Adds a convenience link to check in
- Unlocks personalized/private content
- Site might be public, but personalization requires check-in
They work together but serve different purposes!
Customizing the check-in text
Keep your text:
Short and clear. Menu space is limited.
Action-oriented. "Check in" is better than "Click here to check in"
On-brand. Match your wedding's tone (formal vs. casual)
Obvious. Guests should understand what happens when they click
Customizing the greeting
The greeting appears after the guest checks in:
"Hello, Emily" - Warm and friendly
"Welcome, John" - Formal greeting
"Hey, Sarah" - Casual vibe
Choose what feels right for your wedding style!
Log out functionality
The Log out text link lets guests log out if:
Wrong person checked in - Family member used their device
Want to check in as someone else - Testing or household with multiple guests
Privacy concerns - On a shared device
Default "Not you?" is friendly and clear!
Back to site link
The Back to site text link appears on the check-in page itself, letting guests return to the main site if they change their mind or after checking in.
This is helpful if guests accidentally click the check-in button!
Where the button appears
The check-in link appears in your navigation menu alongside your other links. Depending on your theme:
Right side of the menu
In line with other navigation links
Near RSVP button if you have both enabled
Your theme controls the exact placement!
Disabling the check-in menu button
To remove the check-in link from your menu:
- Go to Site settings → Menu tab
- Find Display check-in link in menu
- Turn the toggle off
- Click Save changes
The link disappears from your navigation!
Check-in menu vs. required authentication
With required authentication ON:
- Guests MUST check in to see your site
- Check-in menu button is less important (they're forced to check in anyway)
With required authentication OFF:
- Guests can browse without checking in
- Check-in menu button lets them unlock personalized features
- Optional but convenient
Consider whether you need both or just one!
Testing check-in
After enabling:
- Visit your live site in a private/incognito window
- Click the check-in link
- Try checking in as a test guest
- See if the greeting appears correctly
- Test the "Not you?" log out link
- Make sure everything works smoothly!
Mobile experience
The check-in link appears in mobile menus too! On mobile, navigation typically collapses into a hamburger menu, and the check-in link appears in that expanded menu.
Make sure it's easy to find and tap on mobile!
Personalized content unlocked
When guests check in, they might see:
Private pages they're invited to
Event-specific content for their events
Their RSVP status pre-filled
Custom messages just for them
Their table assignment (if using seating charts)
Check-in enables all this personalization!
Guests staying checked in
Once checked in, guests usually stay logged in:
Same browser session: Definitely stays logged in
Return visits: Often stays logged in (using cookies)
Different devices: Need to check in again
Clear cookies: Need to check in again
Most guests only need to check in once!
After the wedding
After your wedding, you probably want to:
- Disable the Display check-in link in menu toggle
- Make all content public (turn off authentication)
- Or keep personalization for guests who want to revisit
The link is easy to turn off when you don't need it anymore!
Combining with RSVP button
You can have both check-in and RSVP buttons in your menu:
Check in: For personalization and accessing private content
RSVP: For responding to your invitation
They serve different purposes and work well together!
Enabling the check-in menu button makes it easy for guests to unlock personalized content and get the full experience of your wedding website!
