Reordering sections
Rearrange sections on your pages by dragging and dropping or using arrow buttons to get them in the perfect order.
Got your sections in the wrong order? You can move them around to get everything exactly where you want it.
Two ways to reorder
Drag and drop: Click and hold on a section, then drag it up or down to where you want it. Drop it in the new spot.
Up and down arrows: Click on a section to open it, then use the up or down arrow buttons to move it one position at a time.
Both methods work great. Use whichever feels easier for you!
How to drag and drop sections
- Go to Site in your main navigation
- Find the move icon in the top-left of the section (four arrows in a cross shape)
- Click and hold on the move icon
- Drag the section up or down to its new position
- Drop it where you want it
You'll see other sections shift to make room as you drag. Release to lock it in place.
How to use the arrow buttons
- Go to Site in your main navigation
- Hover over the section you want to move
- Click the up or down arrow buttons at the bottom-left of the section
- Click the up arrow to move the section up one spot
- Click the down arrow to move it down one spot
Keep clicking the arrows until the section is where you want it.
The order matters
Sections appear on your website in the order they're listed. The section at the top of your list shows first on your site, then the next one, and so on down the page.
So if you want your welcome message to appear before your timeline, make sure the welcome section is above the timeline section in your list.
Reordering on different pages
If you have multiple pages, each page has its own section order. Reordering sections on your home page doesn't affect your other pages.
Make sure you're on the right page before moving sections around.
What if drag and drop isn't working?
Sometimes drag and drop can be finicky. If it's not working:
Try the arrow buttons instead. They work just as well.
Refresh your browser. Sometimes that helps.
Make sure you're grabbing the drag handle. Not all parts of a section are draggable, just the handle.
Tips for organizing sections
Start with headings. Use heading sections to create the main sections of your page, then put related content under each heading.
Group related sections together. Keep all your timeline events in one area, all your wedding party intros together, etc.
Put important stuff first. Your most important info should be near the top of the page where guests will see it right away.
Test the order. After moving things around, view your site as a guest would (use the preview or visit your live site) to make sure the order makes sense.
Moving sections between pages
Want to move a section to a different page entirely? You can't drag it there, but you can:
- Open the section editor
- Change which page it's assigned to
- Save your changes
The section moves to the other page. Then you can reorder it on that page if needed.
Reordering is instant
When you reorder sections, the changes show up on your live site right away (if your site is published). No need to click a publish button or anything.
So be careful if you're rearranging things while your site is live. Guests might see sections jumping around if they're viewing your site while you're editing.
Common reordering tasks
Move a section to the top: Drag it all the way up, or keep clicking the up arrow until it's first.
Move a section to the bottom: Drag it all the way down, or keep clicking the down arrow until it's last.
Swap two sections: Move one up or down until it switches places with the other.
Insert a new section in the middle: Add it (it'll appear at the bottom), then move it up to where you want it.
