Editing a Vimeo section
Embed high-quality, ad-free Vimeo videos including professional highlight reels and videographer content on your website.
Vimeo sections let you embed Vimeo videos on your wedding website. Great for sharing high-quality videos in a clean, ad-free player!
What you can do with Vimeo sections
Embed Vimeo videos directly on your site.
Share professional videos from videographers who use Vimeo.
Display highlight reels or teasers.
Show engagement sessions or pre-wedding content.
Autoplay videos with sound muted.
Adding a Vimeo section
- Go to Site in your main navigation
- Click Add a new section
- Choose Vimeo from the list
- Paste your Vimeo video URL
- Choose autoplay settings if you want
- Click Save changes
Fields you can edit
Link to video: The Vimeo URL for the video you want to embed. Paste the full link from Vimeo.
Autoplay (muted): Check this if you want the video to start playing automatically with sound muted. Most people leave this unchecked.
Getting your Vimeo URL
- Go to your video on Vimeo
- Copy the URL from your browser's address bar
- Paste that link in the WedSites field
The URL should look like https://vimeo.com/123456789
Autoplay settings
Checked (autoplay muted): The video starts playing automatically with no sound. Guests can unmute if they want.
Unchecked (no autoplay): Guests need to click play to start the video. This is the default.
Muted autoplay is less intrusive than full autoplay, but most people still prefer to let guests choose when videos play.
Why Vimeo?
Some couples prefer Vimeo because:
No ads. Vimeo doesn't show ads before videos.
High quality. Vimeo handles high-quality video really well.
Professional. Many wedding videographers use Vimeo for client videos.
Cleaner interface. The Vimeo player looks sleek and minimal.
Tips for using Vimeo videos
Check privacy settings. Make sure your Vimeo video is set to public or "anyone with the link" so it can embed.
Keep titles clean. The video title from Vimeo shows in the player, so make sure it's appropriate.
Test the embed. View your site after adding the video to confirm it works.
Consider load time. High-quality videos take longer to load. That's usually worth it, but keep it in mind.
Common Vimeo section uses
Professional highlight videos: Your videographer's teaser or full wedding video.
Engagement sessions: Video from your engagement photo shoot.
Pre-wedding interviews: You talking about your relationship or wedding plans.
Venue highlights: Professional tours of your venue.
Thank you videos: Post-wedding thank you messages to guests.

Privacy settings
If your Vimeo video has privacy settings:
Public: Anyone can find and watch it. Works for embedding.
Anyone with the link: Only people with the direct link can watch. Works for embedding!
Private: Only you can watch. Won't work for embedding.
Set your video to public or "anyone with the link" for it to show on your site.
Customizing Vimeo sections
You can also customize:
Space above and below: Adjust padding around the video.
Size: Video size is usually automatic, but you might have sizing options.
Privacy: Make the section visible to everyone or just certain guests.
These options are in the section editor.
Video not showing?
If your Vimeo video isn't working:
Check the URL. Make sure you copied it correctly.
Verify privacy settings. Make sure the video isn't set to completely private.
Look for embedding restrictions. Some videos have embedding disabled. Check the video settings on Vimeo.
Try a different video. Test with another Vimeo video to see if it's a general issue or specific to that video.
Refresh your browser. Clear cache and reload the page.
Vimeo sections are perfect for professional, high-quality video content on your wedding site. Many couples use them for their official wedding videos!
