Can I restrict Collect Details to my guest list?

Short answer: No, there is no option to restrict the Collect Details form to existing guests only. Anyone with the link can submit their details.

How Collect Details works

The Collect Details form is an open submission form. When you enable it and share the link, anyone who has the link can fill in their name and contact information. There is no login or guest list check. It simply collects whatever details people submit.

This is by design. The purpose of Collect Details is to gather information from people whose details you may not have yet, so requiring them to already be on your guest list would defeat the purpose.

Controlling who submits

Since there's no built-in restriction, manage access by controlling who gets the link:

  • Share selectively: Only send the link to people you actually want to hear from
  • Review submissions: Check new entries in your guest list and remove any you don't recognize
  • Delete unwanted entries: Remove any submissions from unknown people
  • Close the form: Disable the form once you've collected what you need

If you want to restrict to known guests

If you only want existing guests to update their information (not add new people), consider these alternatives:

  • RSVP form: Your RSVP form requires guests to look up their name, so only people on your guest list can respond
  • Manual updates: Ask guests to contact you directly and update their details yourself
  • Custom RSVP questions: Add address or contact fields as custom questions on your RSVP form, which is already restricted to your guest list

Handling duplicates

If a guest submits via Collect Details and they're already on your list, you may end up with duplicate entries. Check for and merge duplicates regularly in your guest list.
