When to use guestbook entry sections

Offline messages: If guests sent you cards or notes and you want to share them on your site.

Social media messages: Copy congratulations from Facebook, Instagram, or other platforms.

Special dedications: Display a message from someone who couldn't be at your wedding.

Seed your guestbook: Add a few entries to get things started and show guests what to write.

Guestbook entry sections vs guestbook form

Guestbook form sections let guests submit their own messages through your site.

Guestbook entry sections are for messages you add manually.

Most couples use both. The guestbook form for guests to leave messages, and guestbook entry sections to add special messages you've received elsewhere.

Adding photos to entries

Photos are optional but they make entries more personal.

  1. Click Upload photo
  2. Choose an image file
  3. The photo displays with the message

To change or remove it, click Delete photo.

Tips for adding entries

Ask permission. If you're sharing something someone wrote privately, make sure they're okay with it being public.

Keep it appropriate. Wedding websites are family-friendly. Keep messages positive and appropriate.

Don't overdo it. A few special entries are meaningful. Dozens of entries can overwhelm your site.

Mix with form entries. Let guests submit their own messages too. Don't make your guestbook all manual entries.

Writing the message

Copy the message exactly as the person wrote it, or paraphrase if needed. Keep it in their voice so it feels authentic.

If you're adding multiple entries, try to keep them roughly the same length. A mix of short and long is fine, but you don't want one super long message followed by one-word notes.

Editing an existing entry

Organizing entries

Guestbook entry sections work well:

Mixed with guestbook form entries. On the same page, entries you add and entries guests submit all appear together.

On a dedicated guestbook page. Create a page just for guestbook entries.

Grouped by when you received them. Add new entries as they come in.

Customizing guestbook entry sections

You can also customize:

Space above and below: Adjust padding around each entry.

Colors: Change colors for the section.

Privacy: Make entries visible to everyone or just certain guests.

These options are in the section editor.

Deleting entries

To remove an guestbook entry section entirely, click Delete section at the bottom of the editor.
