Editing a Facebook Live section

Stream your wedding ceremony or special moments live on Facebook, embedded directly on your wedding website for guests to watch.

How Facebook Live embeds work

When you embed a Facebook Live stream:

Live streams play in real-time on your site.

Recorded live videos can be watched after the fact.

Guests can interact with standard Facebook video controls (play, pause, volume).

Comments from Facebook might show depending on the embed settings.

Tips for using Facebook Live

Test before the wedding. Do a test livestream and embed it to make sure everything works.

Check privacy settings. The Facebook post needs to be public or the embed won't work.

Have a backup plan. Technology can be unpredictable. Have someone ready to troubleshoot if needed.

Tell guests in advance. Let people know when you'll be going live and where to watch.

Consider your audience. Not all guests have or use Facebook, so this might not reach everyone.

Common uses

Ceremony livestream: Stream your ceremony for guests who can't attend.

Reception highlights: Go live during special moments like first dance or toasts.

Pre-wedding events: Stream your rehearsal dinner or welcome party.

Thank you message: Record a live thank you to guests after the wedding.

Setting up the livestream

To go live on Facebook:

  1. Use the Facebook app on your phone or Facebook Live Producer on desktop
  2. Set up your stream (title, description, privacy)
  3. Start streaming
  4. Copy the video URL
  5. Add it to your WedSites Facebook Live section

Editing an existing Facebook Live section

  1. Go to Site in your main navigation
  2. Click on the Facebook Live section
  3. Update the stream URL
  4. Click Save changes

The new video replaces the old one.

After the livestream

Facebook Live videos stay on Facebook after the livestream ends. Your embed will show the recorded version automatically, so guests can watch it later if they missed the live event!

Privacy considerations

Public posts are needed for embedding. Private or friends-only posts won't work.

Guest privacy: Be thoughtful about what you stream. Not everyone wants to be on video.

Ask before streaming. Some venues or vendors might have rules about livestreaming.

Customizing Facebook Live sections

You can also customize:

Space above and below: Adjust padding around the video.

Video size: Usually automatic based on your theme.

Privacy: Make the section visible to everyone or just certain guests on your wedding site (this doesn't affect Facebook privacy).

These options are in the section editor.

Stream not working?

If your Facebook Live embed isn't showing:

Check if the post is public. Private posts can't be embedded.

Verify the URL. Make sure you copied the full link correctly.

Try after the stream ends. Sometimes embeds work better once the video is fully processed.

Check Facebook's status. Occasionally Facebook has technical issues with embedding.

Facebook Live sections are great if you and your guests are active on Facebook and want to livestream your wedding!
