Setting custom domain
Learn how to connect your own custom domain to your wedding website by configuring DNS records.
Want to use your own domain (like ourwedding.com) instead of the default wedsites.com subdomain? You can connect a custom domain to your wedding website.
How to set up
- Go to Settings in your main navigation
- Find the Website URL section
- Enter your Custom domain in the field
- Add the required DNS records to your domain
DNS records to add
Add these DNS records to your custom domain:
| Record type | Name | Target |
|---|---|---|
| A | @ | 37.16.10.26 |
| CNAME | www | domains.wedsites.com |
Important: Your domain must have only one A record for @. If you see any existing A records for @ pointing to a different IP address, delete them before adding the WedSites A record. Having multiple A records causes your site to load inconsistently. See our FAQ on why your custom domain only works sometimes if you run into this.
Which records do I need?
A record - Only needed if using apex domain (like yourwedding.com)
CNAME record - Only needed if using a subdomain (like www.yourwedding.com)
- If using a subdomain other than "www" (like wedding.yourwedding.com), replace "www" with your subdomain name
Best practice (recommended): Add both records so both your apex domain and www subdomain work.
After adding DNS records
- DNS changes can take up to 15 minutes to propagate (sometimes longer)
- SSL certificates are installed automatically
- Both your custom domain and www version will work
Tips
Buy your domain first. Purchase a domain from any registrar (like Google Domains, Namecheap, GoDaddy, etc.).
Wait for propagation. After updating DNS records, give it some time. If it doesn't work after 15 minutes, check that your records are correct.
Both work. Both yourname.com and www.yourname.com will point to your wedding site.
Subdirectories aren't supported. You can't use something like yoursite.com/wedding. The domain needs to point directly to WedSites.
