Adding a new group

Learn how to create color-coded groups like "Family" or "College friends" to organize your guests into social circles for easier visual scanning and filtering.

Groups help you organize your guests into social circles. Think "Family," "College friends," "Work colleagues," or "Yoga crew." Each group gets its own color so you can visually scan your guest list.

How to add a group

  1. Go to Guests > Groups
  2. Click the Add group button
  3. Type in the group name
  4. The group is automatically assigned a random color (you can change it)
  5. Click Save group or Save and add more to keep adding groups

Choosing a color

Each group gets one of eight colors:

  • Indigo
  • Blue
  • Mint
  • Gold
  • Rose
  • Lime
  • Salmon
  • Lavender

When you create a new group, WedSites picks a random available color. You can change it by clicking Change color in the sidebar header and selecting a different swatch.

Colors that are already used by other groups are still available, but WedSites tries to pick unused colors first to keep things distinct.

After creating a group

Once your group exists, you can start assigning guests to it. You can do this from:

  • The guest form (in the Details tab, pick the group from the dropdown)
  • Bulk editing (select multiple guests and assign them all at once)

Empty state

If you haven't created any groups yet, you'll see a message saying "Organize guests into groups" with a prompt to "Start by creating your first group."

Tips

Keep groups broad. A few meaningful groups (like "Family," "Friends," "Work") are more useful than dozens of tiny ones.

Colors help you scan. The color coding shows up throughout the guest list, making it easy to spot patterns at a glance.

You can always add more. Start with the obvious groups and add more as you think of them.
