Button sections add clickable buttons to your website. They're perfect for linking to important pages, external websites, or calls to action.
What you can do with button sections
Add a button that links anywhere you want.
Customize the button text to say whatever makes sense.
Link to other pages on your site or external websites.
Open links in new tabs if you want.
Adding a button section
- Go to Site in your main navigation
- Click Add a new section
- Choose Button from the list
- Fill in the button text and URL
- Click Save changes
Fields you can edit
Button text: What the button says. Like "RSVP Here", "View Photos", or "Book a Hotel".
Button URL: Where the button links to. Can be a page on your site or any external website.
Open link in a new tab: Check this if you want the link to open in a new browser tab instead of replacing the current page.
Button text ideas
RSVP-related: "RSVP Now", "Respond Here", "Let Us Know"
Registry: "View Our Registry", "Gift Ideas", "See Our Wishlist"
Hotels: "Book Accommodations", "Find Hotels", "Where to Stay"
Photos: "See More Photos", "View Gallery", "Our Engagement Photos"
Info: "Get Directions", "Parking Information", "FAQs"
Keep it clear and action-oriented. Guests should know exactly what happens when they click.
Where buttons link
Your RSVP page: Link to /rsvp if you want guests to RSVP.
Another page on your site: Use the page slug like /travel or /registry.
External websites: Full URLs like https://www.example.com.
Registry websites: Direct links to your Zola, Amazon, or other registry.
Hotel booking: Links to hotel group booking pages.
Photo galleries: Links to your photo hosting site.
Opening in new tabs
Check Open link in a new tab if:
- You're linking to an external website
- You want your wedding site to stay open while guests visit the link
- You're linking to a registry, hotel, or photo site
Leave it unchecked if:
- You're linking to another page on your own wedding site
- You want the link to replace the current page
Tips for using buttons
Use them sparingly. Too many buttons makes your site feel cluttered. Stick to the important ones.
Make the text clear. Guests should know what happens when they click. "Click Here" is vague. "RSVP by June 1st" is specific.
Test your links. After adding a button, click it yourself to make sure it goes to the right place.
Consider placement. Buttons work well after relevant content. If you have a paragraph about hotels, put the hotel booking button right after it.
Button vs link
Wondering whether to use a button or a regular link?
Use a button for:
- Important actions you want to stand out
- Calls to action
- External websites
- Things you really want guests to notice
Use a regular link for:
- Links within your text
- Less critical references
- Multiple links in a row (buttons take up more space)
Editing an existing button
- Go to Site in your main navigation
- Click on the button section you want to edit
- Update the button text or URL
- Click Save changes
Changes appear on your site right away.
Customizing button sections
You can also customize:
Space above and below: Adjust padding around the button.
Colors: Button color usually comes from your theme, but you might be able to customize it.
Alignment: Some themes let you center, left-align, or right-align buttons.
Privacy: Make buttons visible to everyone or just certain guests.
These options are available in the section editor.
Common button uses
RSVP: Most popular use. Makes it super easy for guests to respond.
Registry: Link to your gift registry.
Hotels: Help guests book accommodations.
Photos: Link to engagement photos or galleries.
Livestream: Link to your wedding livestream if you're having one.
Buttons are simple but super useful for directing guests to important stuff!
