How YouTube Live works
When you embed a YouTube livestream:
Active livestreams play in real-time on your site.
Scheduled streams show a countdown before they start.
Completed streams become regular videos that guests can watch anytime.
Chat and interaction options depend on your YouTube settings.
Tips for using YouTube Live
Schedule in advance. Create your YouTube Live event ahead of time and share the link before you go live.
Do a test stream. Practice streaming before the wedding to work out any technical issues.
Check your privacy. The stream needs to be public or unlisted. Private streams won't embed.
Have good internet. Streaming requires solid upload speeds. Test your connection at the venue.
Assign a stream manager. Have someone handle the streaming so you can focus on getting married!

The new video replaces the old one.
After the livestream
YouTube automatically converts your livestream to a regular video. Your embed keeps working, so guests who missed it live can watch the recording!
Privacy settings
Public: Anyone can find and watch. Works for embedding.
Unlisted: Only people with the link can watch. Works for embedding! This is often the best choice.
Private: Only you can watch. Won't work for embedding.
Set your stream to public or unlisted for it to show on your site.
Customizing YouTube Live sections
You can also customize:
Space above and below: Adjust padding around the video.
Video size: Usually automatic based on your theme.
Privacy: Make the section visible to everyone or just certain guests on your site.
These options are in the section editor.
Stream not working?
If your YouTube Live embed isn't showing:
Check privacy settings. Make sure it's public or unlisted, not private.
Verify the URL. Confirm you copied the full link correctly.
Wait for processing. After a stream ends, YouTube might take a few minutes to process it.
Test with another video. See if regular YouTube embeds work to isolate the issue.
YouTube Live sections are perfect for couples who want a reliable, high-quality livestream option that doesn't require guests to log in or download anything!
