Setting actual cost
Learn how to set actual costs for budget items to compare your real spending against estimates.
Once you know the real price, set the actual cost to track how your spending compares to your estimates.
Plan requirement: Pro plan
How to set it
- Click on the budget item
- Enter the amount in the Actual cost field
- Click Save
If you've added payments to this budget item, the actual cost may be calculated automatically from the total of paid and unpaid amounts.
The difference
Your budget shows the difference between estimated and actual costs:
- Positive difference - You're under budget for this item
- Negative difference - You're over budget
Tips
Update promptly. As soon as you have a final price from a vendor, update the actual cost.
Payments update actual costs. If you track individual payments within the budget item, the actual cost reflects your payment totals.
