Editing an HTML code section

Add custom HTML, CSS, or JavaScript to embed third-party widgets, forms, or advanced customizations on your website.

HTML code sections let you add custom HTML code to your wedding website. This is for advanced users who want to embed custom elements or third-party widgets.

What you can do with HTML code sections

Embed custom HTML to add features not built into WedSites.

Add third-party widgets like photo galleries, maps, or social media feeds.

Include custom styling or scripts for advanced customization.

Integrate external services that provide HTML embed codes.

Adding a HTML code section

  1. Go to Site in your main navigation
  2. Click Add a new section
  3. Choose HTML code from the list
  4. Paste your HTML code in the field
  5. Click Save changes

Fields you can edit

HTML code: Paste your custom HTML, CSS, or JavaScript here. Whatever you paste will be inserted into your page exactly as you write it.

When to use HTML code sections

Embedding photo galleries: If you use a service like Google Photos or Flickr and they provide an embed code.

Adding custom forms: If you want a contact form or other form that's not built into WedSites.

Social media feeds: Embed Instagram feeds, Twitter timelines, or other social widgets.

Third-party tools: Anything that gives you an embed code can go in a HTML code section.

Important notes

This is advanced. If you're not comfortable with HTML, you might want to skip HTML code sections or ask for help.

Test thoroughly. Custom code can break your site's layout if it's not done right. Preview your changes before publishing.

We can't support custom code. If something goes wrong with your custom code, we can't help troubleshoot it. That's on you!

Keep it simple. The more complex your code, the more likely something will go wrong.

Safety tips

Only use code from trusted sources. Don't paste random code you found online without understanding what it does.

Preview first. See how it looks before making your site public.

Have a backup plan. Know how to delete the HTML code section if something goes wrong.

Test on multiple devices. Make sure your custom code works on phones, tablets, and computers.

Common uses

Google Forms: Embed a custom form for collecting information.

Photo galleries: Add a Flickr or Google Photos embed.

Social feeds: Display your Instagram photos or tweets.

Custom maps: Embed a Google Map with custom markers.

Video players: Add video players with specific features.

Editing existing code

  1. Go to Site in your main navigation
  2. Click on the HTML code section
  3. Update the HTML code
  4. Click Save changes

Be careful when editing. One typo can break things!

Removing HTML code sections

If your custom code isn't working or you don't need it anymore, just delete the section. See our article on deleting a section.

HTML code sections are powerful but use them carefully. If you're not sure what you're doing, stick with the built-in section types!
