Editing a guestbook section

Add an interactive form where guests can submit messages, photos, and well-wishes directly on your wedding website.

Guestbook sections add an interactive form to your website where guests can leave messages, photos, and well-wishes.

What you can do with guestbook sections

Let guests leave messages right on your website.

Collect photos from guests along with their messages.

Customize the form with your own text and labels.

Display entries above or below the form.

Make it private so only certain guests can access it.

Translate the text if you have multiple languages.

Add custom calligraphy for styled headings.

Adding a guestbook section

  1. Go to Site in your main navigation
  2. Click Add a new section
  3. Choose Guestbook form from the list
  4. Customize the form text
  5. Click Save changes

Fields you can edit

Form title: The heading that appears above the form. Like "Leave a message" or "Sign our guestbook".

Welcome message: Text that appears before the form. Explain what you want guests to do.

Submit button text: What the submit button says. Default is "Submit" but you could change it to "Post message" or "Share your wishes".

Confirmation message: Text that shows when guests hover over or prepare to submit. Like "Are you sure?"

Thank you message: What guests see after submitting. Like "Thank you for your message!"

Add guestbook entries: Choose whether existing entries appear above or below the form.

Custom calligraphy: Upload an image to replace the form title with styled text.

How the guestbook works

When you add a guestbook form to your site, guests can:

  1. Fill in their name
  2. Write a message
  3. Optionally upload a photo
  4. Click submit
  5. See their entry appear on your site (if you've enabled that)

Everything they submit saves to your guestbook, and you can view all entries from your dashboard.

Customizing the text

The default text works great, but you can personalize it:

Form title examples:
- "Share your wishes"
- "Leave us a note"
- "Guest messages"

Welcome message examples:
- "We'd love to hear from you! Leave us a message below."
- "Share your favorite memory, marriage advice, or well-wishes for our future."
- "Take a moment to sign our guestbook and share your thoughts."

Thank you message examples:
- "Thanks for your kind words!"
- "Your message means the world to us!"
- "We can't wait to read this!"

Displaying guestbook entries

You can choose where entries appear:

Above form: Guests see existing entries first, then the form to add their own below.

Below form: The form appears first, then existing entries below. This encourages guests to leave a message before reading others.

Both options work well. Pick whatever feels right!

Making the guestbook private

You might want your guestbook visible only to:
- Guests who've RSVPed
- Certain invited guests
- People who know a password

Check out our article on making a section private to set this up.

Using custom calligraphy

Want a styled title?

  1. Click Add custom calligraphy
  2. Click Upload custom calligraphy and choose your image
  3. Your image replaces the form title

To remove it, click Delete custom calligraphy.

Viewing guestbook submissions

All entries guests submit show up in Site > Guestbook.

From there you can:
- Read all the messages
- See photos guests uploaded
- Print or export entries
- Delete inappropriate ones (hopefully you won't need to!)

Check out our guestbook articles for more details on managing entries.

Tips for using guestbook forms

Add it early. Put your guestbook on your site before the wedding so guests can leave messages anytime.

Promote it. Let guests know you have a guestbook. Mention it in emails or on social media.

Seed it with entries. Add a few messages yourself using entry sections to show guests what kinds of things to write.

Check it regularly. Read submissions as they come in. Respond if appropriate!

Keep it accessible. Don't make the guestbook too hard to find or hidden behind passwords unless you have a specific reason.

Common guestbook uses

Well-wishes: Collect messages of congratulations and support.

Advice: Ask for marriage advice or relationship tips.

Memories: Have guests share their favorite memory with you.

Photos: Let guests upload photos from the wedding or of themselves.

Virtual attendance: Guests who can't attend can still leave messages.

Editing an existing guestbook

  1. Go to Site in your main navigation
  2. Click on the guestbook section
  3. Update any text or settings
  4. Click Save changes

Changes appear on your site right away.

Translating guestbook text

If you have multiple languages on your site, you can translate all the guestbook text:

  1. Open the guestbook section
  2. Select your language
  3. Enter the translated versions of form title, messages, etc.
  4. Save your changes

Guests see the guestbook in whatever language they've selected on your site.

Customizing the guestbook

You can also customize:

Space above and below: Adjust padding around the form.

Colors: Change colors for the section.

Privacy: Control who can see and submit to the guestbook.

Page assignment: Put the guestbook on any page you want.

These options are in the section editor.

Guestbook forms are amazing! They give you a place to collect all the sweet messages and photos from guests in one spot. Plus it's so fun to read them later!
