Making a section private

Restrict a section so only guests invited to specific events can see it on your wedding website.

Sometimes you want certain sections to be visible only to specific guests. Making a section private lets you control who sees what on your wedding website based on the events they're invited to.

What you can do with private sections

Hide sensitive info. Share your home address only with guests invited to certain events.

Create event-specific content. Show rehearsal dinner details only to those invited.

Control access. Let some guests see certain info based on their event invitations.

Personalize experiences. Different events mean different content.

How to make a section private

  1. Go to Site in your main navigation
  2. Click on the section you want to make private
  3. Find the Privacy or Visibility setting
  4. Choose which events' guests can see this section
  5. Click Save changes

Privacy options

Public: Everyone who visits your site can see it.

All guests: Only guests in your guest list (who have RSVP access) can see it.

Specific events: Only guests invited to certain events you select.

Common uses for private sections

Rehearsal dinner details. Share info only with guests invited to the rehearsal dinner.

Welcome party info. Show details only to guests invited to the welcome party.

After-party details. Let guests invited to the after-party know the details.

Ceremony-only info. Content specifically for ceremony guests.

Reception details. Information just for reception guests.

How guests see private sections

If they have access: The section appears normally on the page.

If they don't have access: The section doesn't show up at all. No blank space, no "you can't see this" message. It's just not there.

This keeps your site looking clean while controlling who sees what.

How it works

Private sections are tied to your events:

  1. Create events like "Ceremony", "Reception", "Rehearsal Dinner", "Welcome Party", etc.
  2. Invite guests to those events
  3. Set section privacy to show only to guests invited to specific events

When guests RSVP or log in, your site knows which events they're invited to and shows them the appropriate content.

Tips for using private sections

Don't overdo it. If too much content is private, public visitors see an empty site.

Test it out. View your site as a guest would to make sure privacy settings work correctly.

Communicate clearly. If guests need to log in or RSVP to see certain content, tell them.

Be strategic. Use privacy for truly sensitive or relevant info, not for everything.

Managing multiple private sections

You can have as many private sections as you want. Just set each one's privacy independently. This lets you create a really customized experience based on which events guests are attending.

Making a section public again

Changed your mind? To make a private section public:

  1. Edit the section
  2. Find the privacy setting
  3. Change it to "Public" or "Everyone"
  4. Click Save changes

The section immediately becomes visible to all visitors.

RSVP and privacy

Guests need to RSVP (or enter a password) to be recognized on your site. Once they do, your site knows who they are and which events they're invited to, then shows them their private content.

Make sure guests know they might need to RSVP to see everything.
