How does the guest count work with plus-ones?
Understand how plus-ones are counted and whether you need to manually adjust your guest numbers.
Plan requirement: Standard or Pro plan
Short answer: When a guest RSVPs with a plus-one, the plus-one is automatically added to your guest list and all counts update on their own. No manual adjustment is needed.
What happens when a guest adds a plus-one
- The guest selects that they are bringing a plus-one during the RSVP process
- A new guest record is automatically created in the same household
- Your total guest count increases to include the plus-one
- Dashboard stats and attendance numbers update immediately
Where to see updated counts
- Guest list: The plus-one appears as a new guest in the same household
- Dashboard: Total guest count and attendance stats reflect plus-ones
- Event attendance: Plus-ones are included in per-event headcounts
- Seating chart: Plus-ones appear as guests you can assign to tables
Do I need to manually adjust anything?
No. The system handles plus-one counting automatically:
- Guest count updates when a plus-one is added
- If a guest later changes their RSVP and removes the plus-one, the count adjusts back down
- Stats like "attending", "declined", and "pending" all account for plus-ones
Allowing plus-ones
To let guests bring plus-ones:
- Go to Guests and select the guest or household
- Enable the plus-one option for that guest
- When they RSVP, they'll see the option to add a guest
Plus-ones are enabled per guest, so you control exactly who can bring an additional person.
Tips
- Check your guest list after RSVPs come in to see plus-one names
- Plus-ones inherit the same household as their host guest
- You can edit plus-one details (name, dietary requirements, etc.) just like any other guest
- If you have a venue capacity limit, monitor your total count as plus-ones come in
