Displaying languages in menu

Learn how to show language links in your navigation menu so guests can view your wedding website in their preferred language.

Running a multilingual wedding website? You can display language links in your navigation menu so guests can switch between languages.

Plan requirement: Pro plan

What this does

Adds language links to your navigation menu (one link per language).

Lets guests switch languages. Clicking a link shows the site in that language.

Multiple display options. Show language names, codes, flags, or combinations.

Requirements

  • Pro plan (multilingual support is Pro only)
  • Languages added in your settings (content is auto-translated when you add a language)

How to enable language links

  1. Go to Site in your main navigation
  2. Click on the settings icon to open Site settings
  3. Click the Menu tab at the top
  4. Scroll down to find Display languages in menu
  5. Turn the toggle on
  6. Choose your preferred format from Display each language as
  7. Click Save changes

Language links now appear in your navigation menu.

Language display format options

Choose from these formats in the Display each language as dropdown:

Language name
- Shows full language names
- Example: "English", "Español", "Français"

2-letter code
- Shows language codes
- Example: "EN", "ES", "FR"

Flag icon
- Shows flag icons representing each language

Flag icon + language name
- Combines flag with full name
- Example: 🇺🇸 English, 🇪🇸 Español

Flag icon + 2-letter code
- Combines flag with code
- Example: 🇺🇸 EN, 🇪🇸 ES

Choose based on your menu space and preference.

How language switching works

When a guest clicks a language link:

  1. The site switches to show that language version
  2. They see the sections and pages for that language
  3. Their preference is saved for their session
  4. They can click another language link to switch again

Languages are independent

Remember that each language has its own independent sections and pages. When you added the language, all your content was automatically duplicated and translated. After that:

  • Each language version can be edited separately
  • You can have different layouts and content per language
  • Changes to one language don't affect others

Disabling language links

To remove language links from your menu:

  1. Go to Site settingsMenu tab
  2. Find Display languages in menu
  3. Turn the toggle off
  4. Click Save changes

Recommended formats

For 2-3 languages: Flag icon + language name (clear and friendly)

For 4+ languages: 2-letter code or flag icon (saves space)

If flags might be sensitive: Language name or code only

Testing

After enabling:

  1. Visit your live site
  2. Click each language link
  3. Make sure content displays correctly in each language
  4. Test on mobile too
