Deleting empty household
Learn how to remove households that have no guests assigned, either individually or in bulk to clean up your household list after imports.
You can delete a household as long as it has no guests assigned to it. This keeps your list clean and avoids accidentally removing guest data.
How to delete an empty household
- Go to Guests > Households
- Click on the empty household
- Click Delete at the bottom of the sidebar
- Confirm when prompted
The household is permanently removed.
Why it has to be empty
WedSites protects your guest data by only allowing you to delete households that have no guests in them. If you try to delete a household that still has guests, you'll see the message: "The household couldn't be deleted because it contains guests."
To delete a household with guests, you need to remove or reassign the guests first. See our article on deleting household with guests.
Bulk deleting empty households
If you have a bunch of empty households to clean up (maybe from an import that didn't go perfectly), you can delete them all at once:
- Go to Households
- Click Delete empty households (this button only appears if empty households exist)
- Confirm the deletion
This removes all households that have zero guests assigned.
Tips
Clean up after imports. CSV imports sometimes create extra empty households. Use bulk delete to clean them up quickly.
Check before deleting. Once deleted, the household is gone for good. Make sure you don't need it before removing it.
