Customizing section colors independently
Override your theme's default colors for individual sections to create visual variety and highlight specific content.
Your theme comes with default colors, but you can override them on a per-section basis. This gives you tons of flexibility to highlight certain sections or create visual variety!
What you can do with independent colors
Override theme colors for specific sections.
Create visual hierarchy. Make important sections stand out.

Available color settings
Depending on the section type, you might see:
Background color: The color behind the section content.
Text color: The color of the text in the section.
Button color: For sections with buttons.
Border color: For dividers or sections with borders.
Not every section has every option. It depends on the section type!
Color picker tips
Use the color wheel to pick any color you want.
Enter hex codes if you know the exact color you need.
Adjust transparency if your theme supports it.
Preview as you go. The color updates in real-time (usually).
When to customize colors
Make CTAs stand out. Give your RSVP section a bright background color so guests can't miss it.
Create sections. Alternate background colors to visually separate different parts of your page.
Match your wedding colors. Use your actual wedding palette for certain sections.
Highlight important info. A colored background draws the eye.
Tips for choosing colors
Contrast is key. If you have a dark background, use light text. Dark text needs a light background. Otherwise it's hard to read!
Don't go overboard. If every section is a different color, it can look chaotic. Pick 2-3 colors and stick with them.
Test readability. Some color combinations look pretty but are hard to read. Ask someone else to check!
Consider your photos. If you have images in a section, the background color will show around them (depending on your theme).
Stay on brand. Use colors that feel like "you" and your wedding.
Resetting colors
If you've customized a section's colors and want to go back to your theme default:
See our article on resetting section colors to theme default!
Combining custom colors with themes
Your theme sets the overall color palette, but independent section colors override it. This means:
Most sections follow your theme colors.
Customized sections use the colors you picked.
Changing your theme won't affect sections with custom colors.
This gives you the best of both worlds!
Common uses
Alternating backgrounds. White, light gray, white, light gray creates nice visual rhythm.
Accent sections. One pop of color in an otherwise neutral page.
Branded sections. Use your exact wedding colors for RSVP or important details.
Seasonal vibes. Warm colors for fall weddings, cool colors for winter, etc.
Independent color control lets you make your site feel totally custom without rebuilding everything from scratch!
