Editing a YouTube section

Embed YouTube videos like engagement stories, proposal footage, or video messages directly on your wedding website.

YouTube sections let you embed YouTube videos on your wedding website. Perfect for sharing your engagement video, proposal story, or any special moments!

What you can do with YouTube sections

Embed YouTube videos directly on your site.

Share your story through video.

Add engagement videos or proposal footage.

Include video messages from people who can't attend.

Autoplay videos (or not, your choice).

Adding a YouTube section

  1. Go to Site in your main navigation
  2. Click Add a new section
  3. Choose YouTube from the list
  4. Paste your YouTube video URL
  5. Choose autoplay settings if you want
  6. Click Save changes

Fields you can edit

Link to video: The YouTube URL for the video you want to embed. Paste the full link from YouTube.

Automatically start playing video: Check this if you want the video to start playing as soon as someone loads the page. Most people leave this unchecked.

Getting your YouTube URL

  1. Go to your video on YouTube
  2. Click the "Share" button below the video
  3. Copy the link it gives you
  4. Paste that link in the WedSites field

The full URL should look like https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=... or https://youtu.be/...

Both formats work fine!

Autoplay settings

Checked (autoplay on): The video starts playing automatically when someone visits your page. Can be surprising for guests.

Unchecked (autoplay off): Guests need to click play to start the video. This is the default and usually the better choice.

Most people prefer to choose when videos start playing, so leave autoplay off unless you have a specific reason to use it.

Tips for using YouTube videos

Keep them relevant. Share videos that add to your story or help guests get excited about the wedding.

Check the length. Super long videos might lose people's attention. Shorter is often better.

Test the embed. After adding the video, view your site to make sure it plays correctly.

Consider placement. Videos work great on a dedicated "Our Story" page or near the top of your home page.

Make sure it's public. The video needs to be public or unlisted on YouTube. Private videos won't work.

Common YouTube section uses

Engagement videos: Share the proposal or your engagement photos set to music.

Love story: A video telling how you met and fell in love.

Save the date video: Some couples create video save the dates.

Venue tours: Show guests what the venue looks like.

Video messages: From people who can't attend the wedding.

Thank you videos: After the wedding, share highlights or thank guests.

Editing an existing YouTube section

  1. Go to Site in your main navigation
  2. Click on the YouTube section
  3. Update the video URL or autoplay setting
  4. Click Save changes

The new video replaces the old one immediately.

Changing videos

To show a different video:

  1. Get the URL for your new YouTube video
  2. Open the YouTube section in your editor
  3. Paste the new URL (it replaces the old one)
  4. Click Save changes

Privacy note

Remember that embedded YouTube videos can still be found on YouTube if someone searches for them or has the direct link. If you want true privacy, use YouTube's unlisted setting (not completely private, just not searchable).

Customizing YouTube sections

You can also customize:

Space above and below: Adjust padding around the video.

Size: The video size is usually automatic based on your theme, but you might have options.

Privacy: Make the section visible to everyone or just certain guests (this controls the section, not the YouTube video itself).

These options are in the section editor.

Video not working?

If your video isn't showing up:

Check the URL. Make sure you copied the full link correctly.

Verify it's public or unlisted. Private videos won't embed.

Try a different video. Sometimes specific videos have embedding disabled. Test with a different one.

Clear your cache. Sometimes browsers cache the old version. Refresh the page.

YouTube sections are perfect for sharing video content without having to upload large files directly to your wedding site!
