Editing a place section

Recommend hotels, restaurants, and local attractions to guests with photos, descriptions, and direct links.

Place sections are for recommending locations to your guests. Perfect for sharing your favorite hotels, restaurants, or things to do in the area.

What you can do with place sections

Recommend hotels where guests can stay.

Share restaurant suggestions for out-of-town guests.

Highlight local attractions or things to do.

Link to websites for each place you recommend.

Add photos to show guests what each place looks like.

Include custom calligraphy for styled section headings.

Adding a place section

  1. Go to Site in your main navigation
  2. Click Add a new section
  3. Choose Place from the list
  4. Fill in the place details
  5. Click Save changes

Fields you can edit

Name: The name of the place you're recommending. Like "The Grand Hotel" or "Joe's Pizza".

Link to website: The URL for the place's website so guests can learn more or book.

Description: Details about the place. Why you're recommending it, what's special about it, or any tips for guests.

Image: Optional photo of the place. Could be the hotel exterior, restaurant interior, or attraction.

Link text: What the button says. Default is "Visit site" but you could change it to "Book here" or "View menu".

Custom calligraphy: Upload an image to replace the place name with styled text.

Creating a recommendations list

Add multiple place sections to create a list of recommendations. One section for each hotel, restaurant, or attraction you want to share.

Group them together. Put all hotels in one area, all restaurants in another. Use headings to organize them.

Prioritize your favorites. List your top recommendations first.

Using images

Photos help guests visualize the place. You can:

  1. Click Upload image
  2. Choose a photo (640px width recommended)
  3. The image displays with your place information

To change or remove it, click Delete image.

Writing descriptions

Keep descriptions helpful but brief:

For hotels: Mention distance from venue, price range, or special amenities.

For restaurants: Share what kind of food they serve, the vibe, or if reservations are needed.

For attractions: Explain what makes it worth visiting and how much time it takes.

A sentence or two is usually plenty.

Link text options

Customize the button text to match what you're linking to:

"Book here" for hotels.

"View menu" for restaurants.

"Get tickets" for attractions.

"Visit site" works for anything.

Make it clear what happens when guests click.

Using custom calligraphy

Want a styled name for the place?

  1. Click Add custom calligraphy
  2. Click Upload custom calligraphy and choose your image
  3. Your image replaces the place name

To remove it, click Delete custom calligraphy.

Tips for recommending places

Be specific. Include full names and website links so guests can easily find the place.

Explain why. Don't just list places. Tell guests why you're recommending them.

Provide variety. Include options at different price points if possible.

Keep it local. Focus on places near your venue or in the area where guests will be staying.

Update links. Make sure websites still work before your guests start planning.

Common uses

Hotel blocks: Share hotels where you have room blocks set up.

Budget options: Include affordable hotel choices for guests on a budget.

Dining recommendations: Your favorite local restaurants for guests to try.

Things to do: Museums, parks, or attractions guests might enjoy while they're in town.

Transportation: Shuttle services or car rental companies.

Welcome dinner location: If you're having a welcome event, share details about the venue.

Editing an existing place

  1. Go to Site in your main navigation
  2. Click on the place section you want to edit
  3. Update any fields
  4. Click Save changes

Changes appear on your site right away.

Organizing multiple places

If you have lots of recommendations:

Use headings. Add a heading like "Where to Stay" before your hotel sections, "Where to Eat" before restaurants, etc.

Group by category. Keep all similar places together.

Consider separate pages. If you have tons of recommendations, make a dedicated "Travel" or "Things to Do" page.

Customizing place sections

You can also customize:

Space above and below: Adjust padding around each place.

Colors: Change colors if you want certain places to stand out.

Privacy: Make recommendations visible to everyone or just certain guests.
