Editing a Spotify section

Share your wedding playlist, first dance song, or favorite music with guests by embedding Spotify playlists and tracks.

Spotify sections let you embed Spotify playlists on your wedding website. Share your wedding playlist or favorite songs with guests!

What you can do with Spotify sections

Share your wedding playlist with guests before the big day.

Display your first dance song or other special music.

Let guests preview the music they'll hear at your wedding.

Create the vibe with your favorite songs.

Adding a Spotify section

  1. Go to Site in your main navigation
  2. Click Add a new section
  3. Choose Spotify playlist from the list
  4. Paste your Spotify playlist URL
  5. Click Save changes

Fields you can edit

Link to playlist: The Spotify URL for the playlist or song you want to embed. Paste the full link from Spotify.

Getting your Spotify URL

For playlists:
1. Open Spotify and find your playlist
2. Click the three dots (...) next to the playlist name
3. Select "Share" > "Copy link to playlist"
4. Paste that link in WedSites

For individual songs:
1. Find the song in Spotify
2. Click the three dots (...) next to the song
3. Select "Share" > "Copy song link"
4. Paste that link in WedSites

The URL should look like https://open.spotify.com/playlist/... or https://open.spotify.com/track/...

What gets embedded

When you paste a Spotify link, you're embedding a playable Spotify widget. Guests can:

Listen to preview clips (30 seconds) without logging in.

Play full songs if they have Spotify Premium.

See the full track list in your playlist.

Open in Spotify to save the playlist or follow it.

Tips for using Spotify sections

Make playlists public. Private playlists won't embed. Make sure your playlist is set to public in Spotify.

Name it well. The playlist name shows in the embed, so use something like "Sarah & John's Wedding" instead of "Untitled Playlist".

Keep it updated. You can change the songs in your Spotify playlist and the embed updates automatically!

Add a description. In the Spotify playlist settings, add a description explaining what the playlist is for.

Consider playlist length. A 5-hour playlist is great for the actual wedding, but might be overwhelming to embed. Consider making a highlights playlist for your site.

Common Spotify section uses

Wedding day playlist: All the songs that'll play at your wedding.

First dance song: Just that one special song.

Getting ready playlist: Music you'll listen to while getting ready.

Reception dance mix: Songs for the dance floor.

Ceremony music: Processional, recessional, and special songs.

Romantic favorites: Songs that are meaningful to your relationship.

Editing an existing Spotify section

  1. Go to Site in your main navigation
  2. Click on the Spotify section
  3. Update the playlist URL
  4. Click Save changes

The new playlist replaces the old one.

Updating your playlist

Here's the cool thing: you don't need to edit the Spotify section to change the songs.

Just update your actual Spotify playlist (add or remove songs) and the embed on your website updates automatically! The URL stays the same.

Privacy note

Embedded Spotify content is publicly viewable. Anyone visiting your site can see and preview the songs, even if they don't have Spotify.

Customizing Spotify sections

You can also customize:

Space above and below: Adjust padding around the Spotify player.

Player size: The player is usually a standard size, but your theme might offer options.

Privacy: Make the section visible to everyone or just certain guests.

These options are in the section editor.

Spotify not working?

If your playlist isn't showing:

Check if it's public. Private playlists can't be embedded. Change it to public in Spotify.

Verify the URL. Make sure you copied the full Spotify link.

Try a different playlist. Test with another playlist to see if it's a specific issue.

Make sure it's a playlist or track. Some other Spotify links (like artist pages) might not embed well.

Alternatives to Spotify

Don't use Spotify? You could:

List your songs in a paragraph section with song titles and artists.

Link to Apple Music or YouTube playlists using a button or link section.

Create a YouTube playlist and embed that instead.

Spotify sections are fun for sharing your music taste and getting guests excited about the soundtrack to your wedding day!
