How do I password protect my website?
Keep your wedding website private by requiring guests to enter a password or log in to view your content.
Short answer: Go to Site > Builder > Site settings to enable guest authentication for your website.
Enabling guest authentication
- Go to Site > Builder
- Click Site settings
- In the General tab, find Require guest authentication
- Toggle it on
- Select an authentication method: Check in or Access code
- If using access code, enter the code in the Access code field
- Click Save
Guest authentication vs password protection
Password protection:
- One shared password for all visitors
- Simple to set up and share
- Anyone with the password can access
Guest authentication:
- Guests log in with their name or email
- You control exactly who can access
- Guests must be on your guest list to view the site
Making specific pages private
You can make individual pages private while leaving others public:
- Go to Site > Builder
- Click on the page tab you want to make private
- Click Page settings (gear icon)
- Click Make private
- Optionally, configure which guests can see the page based on event invitations
- Click Save
Tips
- Choose a memorable password that's easy to share
- Include the password in your save-the-dates or invitations
- Guest authentication is more secure but requires guests to be in your system
- Test the login experience yourself before sharing with guests
Sharing with guests
When your site is password protected, let guests know:
- In your save-the-date emails
- On your printed invitations
- In a text or message when you share the URL
