How do I merge duplicate guests?

Combine duplicate guest entries when the same person appears more than once in your list.

Plan requirement: Standard or Pro plan

Short answer: Find the duplicate guests, keep one entry and delete the other, or use the merge function if available.

Identifying duplicates

Duplicates can happen when:
- Importing a list that already has some guests
- Adding guests manually who were already imported
- Guests RSVPing with slightly different names

Merging duplicates

  1. Go to Guests
  2. Find and select the duplicate entries using the checkboxes
  3. Click Merge in the bulk actions
  4. In the merge panel, select the details to keep for each field
  5. Click Confirm merge

Manual merge

If automatic merging isn't available:
1. Open both guest profiles
2. Note any unique information in each (responses, meal choice, etc.)
3. Update the guest you want to keep with any missing info
4. Delete the duplicate entry

Preventing duplicates

To avoid duplicates:
- Search before adding new guests
- Use consistent name formats when importing
- Review imported lists for duplicates before sending invitations

Tips

  • Be careful when deleting - you may lose RSVP responses
  • Check household assignments when merging
  • Keep the guest with more complete information
  • If a guest RSVPed on a duplicate, make sure to preserve that response
