Founded in 2017 by Ayla Toyokawa to make wedding planning easier, inspired by coordinating her best friend's destination wedding.
WedSites was founded by Ayla Toyokawa in 2017, born from real wedding planning frustration and a desire to help couples plan their special day without unnecessary stress.
Why WedSites was created
The idea came about when Ayla was asked to be Maid of Honor for her childhood best friend's destination wedding in Hawaii. She noticed her friend was using a whole heap of different spreadsheets and online tools to keep track of her guest list, tasks, budget, contracts, and wedding website. The attempt at staying super organized quickly became an overwhelming mess.
As someone who loved weddings growing up, not in the typical fairytale way but in the details of what it takes to bring a beautiful event to life, Ayla knew there had to be a better way. With a combined background in wedding coordination, web design, and software development, she was frustrated by the lack of intuitive wedding planning tools and constant bombardment with unwanted ads and sales emails.
