Different directions. Ceremony and reception at different venues? Show the right directions to the right people.
VIP content. Share special info only with guests in a specific group like Family or Close Friends.
Welcome party details. Only show this to guests invited to the welcome party.
Dress code variations. Different events have different dress codes? Show the right one.
How it works
This feature works with guest groups and event invitations:
Using groups:
1. Create groups in your guest list (e.g., "Wedding Party", "Family")
2. Assign guests to the appropriate groups
3. Set sections to display to or hide from a specific group
Using events:
1. Create events in your RSVP settings (e.g., "Ceremony", "Reception")
2. Invite guests to specific events
3. Set sections to display to or hide from guests of a specific event
When guests check in on your site, they see only what's relevant to them!
Tips
Test from a guest perspective. Preview your site as a test guest in different groups or events to see what they'd see.
Don't hide too much. If you hide everything, guests might not see important info.
Keep some sections universal. Your welcome message, couple's story, and registry probably should show to everyone.
Groups vs. events. Use groups when visibility is based on who someone is (family, wedding party). Use events when it's based on what they're attending (ceremony, reception).
When guests see the content
After they check in: Once guests check in, your site knows their group and event invitations and shows the right sections.
If they're in multiple groups or events: They see sections for everything they're part of.
If they haven't checked in: They might see generic content or be prompted to check in.
Removing restrictions
To make a section visible to everyone again:
- Edit the section
- Click Make public
- Click Save changes
Groups vs. events for visibility
Groups are great for categories of people: wedding party, family, college friends, VIPs. A guest belongs to one group.
Events are great for activities: ceremony, reception, rehearsal dinner. A guest can be invited to multiple events.
You can use either approach depending on what makes sense for your content!
