Making a section private
Restrict a section so only certain guests can see it on your wedding website.
Sometimes you want certain sections to be visible only to specific guests. Making a section private lets you control who sees what on your wedding website based on the groups they belong to or the events they're invited to.
What you can do with private sections
Hide sensitive info. Share your home address only with certain guests.
Create event-specific content. Show rehearsal dinner details only to those invited.
Show group-specific content. Share VIP info only with your wedding party group.
Control access. Let some guests see certain info based on their group or event invitations.
Personalize experiences. Different groups and events mean different content.

Privacy options
Public: Everyone who visits your site can see it.
Private (admin only): Only you and other account users can see it. Useful for sections you're still working on.
All guests (checked in): Only guests who have checked in can see it.
Guests in a group: Only guests who belong to a specific group can see it. Select the group from the dropdown.
Guests of an event: Only guests invited to a specific event can see it. Select the event from the dropdown.
Display to vs. Hide from
Display to makes a section visible only to matching guests. Everyone else won't see it.
Hide from hides a section from matching guests. Everyone else (including new visitors) will see it.
For example, "Display to guests in Wedding Party group" means only wedding party members see the section. "Hide from guests of Reception event" means reception guests won't see it, but everyone else will.
Common uses for private sections
Rehearsal dinner details. Display to guests invited to the rehearsal dinner event.
Wedding party info. Display to guests in your Wedding Party group.
Welcome party info. Display to guests invited to the welcome party event.
After-party details. Display to guests in your Close Friends group.
VIP information. Display to a specific group like Family or Wedding Party.
How guests see private sections
If they have access: The section appears normally on the page.
If they don't have access: The section doesn't show up at all. No blank space, no "you can't see this" message. It's just not there.
This keeps your site looking clean while controlling who sees what.
How it works
Private sections can be filtered by groups or events:
Using groups:
1. Create groups like "Wedding Party", "Family", "College Friends"
2. Assign guests to the appropriate groups
3. Set section privacy to display to or hide from a specific group
Using events:
1. Create events like "Ceremony", "Reception", "Rehearsal Dinner"
2. Invite guests to those events
3. Set section privacy to display to or hide from guests invited to a specific event
When guests check in on your site, it knows which groups they belong to and which events they're invited to, then shows them the right content.
Tips for using private sections
Don't overdo it. If too much content is private, public visitors see an empty site.
Test it out. View your site as a guest would to make sure privacy settings work correctly.
Communicate clearly. If guests need to log in or RSVP to see certain content, tell them.
Be strategic. Use privacy for truly sensitive or relevant info, not for everything.
Managing multiple private sections
You can have as many private sections as you want. Just set each one's privacy independently. This lets you create a really customized experience based on which events guests are attending.
Making a section public again
Changed your mind? To make a private section public:
- Edit the section
- Find the privacy setting
- Change it to "Public" or "Everyone"
- Click Save changes
The section immediately becomes visible to all visitors.
Authentication and privacy
Guests need to check in (or enter an access code) to be recognized on your site. Once they do, your site knows who they are, which groups they belong to, and which events they're invited to, then shows them their private content.
Make sure guests know they might need to check in to see everything.
